As 2019 comes to a close, Community Impact Newspaper would like to revisit those features. Here is every locally owned business our Northwest Austin edition wrote about over the past twelve months.
Austin Ninjas
Besides competitions, Austin Ninjas also has an open gym for anyone to come and play on the obstacles as well as classes and camps. Classes not only help children improve their grip strength, balance and core strength but also improve their overall athletic skill, owner Jennifer Halla said.
Tri-Star Farm
Tri-Star Farm owner Kathy Ellerbeck said she has no trouble maintaining clientele, whether they are children attending summer camp, boarders looking for a place to keep their horses or adults hoping to find refuge from a hectic schedule.
Art Amore
Even though Art Amore is an art studio, incorporating science into classes helps the students remember how to create colors, said Elyse Barmettler, who owns the business with her mother, Kathy Barmettler.
Illuminate Coffee Bar
“In the roasting process, the more you roast the beans, the [more the] oils come out, and that’s caffeine coming out of the bean,” Illuminate owner Palak Patel said. “People in this community know we use the light roast coffee, and they appreciate that because the caffeine is still in there."

As Austin’s only publicly accessible regulation-size indoor ice rink, the frozen sheet at the center of Chaparral Ice lays the foundation for icy recreation Central Texans would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
McSpadden’s Tire & Automotive
McSpadden’s offers everything customers would expect: oil changes; tire rotations and alignments; emission inspections; and repairs to brakes, air conditioners, transmissions, belts and more. The business offers repairs for import, domestic and diesel vehicles.
4th Tap Brewing Co-Op

Adams Co.
As a female running her own remodeling business in a male-dominated industry, Debbie Adams said her attention to detail gives her an edge.
“Personally, I believe women have a better eye for detail, and in this industry, it’s all about the details,” Adams, founder and owner of Adams Co., said.
Art + Academy
No matter the skill level of a student when they enter Art + Academy, founder Monica Araoz said she and her staff home in on technique and progress, with a goal of giving students measurable results.

Lache Movement Co. has classes in parkour, trampoline, pole fitness, trapeze and other aerial arts, such as lyra and silks.
Cornucopia Popcorn
Cornucopia has seasonal flavors, such as ginger pear and white chocolate cranberry. About 95% of flavors are gluten-free, and the shop carries vegan options.
