Workers will be laying the final layer of pavement on MoPac this weekend that will cause significant travel delays Sept. 15-17 along the highway.

Most of the work will be done on the southbound side of MoPac between Enfield Road and RM 2222, but some work will also be completed on the northbound side.

The work is being done as part of the MoPac Improvement Project to add one express toll lane in each direction on MoPac from Parmer Lane to Cesar Chavez Street. In October 2016 part of the northbound express lane opened to traffic north of RM 2222.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, which is overseeing the project, expects to open the rest of the northbound express lane in late September. The southbound express lane will not open until early November.
