Voters in the Bay Area have several local elections on their ballots in the Nov. 7 election.

The details

Those in Clear Lake will be able to cast ballots for several Houston City Council elections this year. They include:In addition, Houston voters will be able to vote for two propositions:Proposition A would give council members the ability to place items on council agendas instead of having to get mayoral approval. Proposition B would allow the city to have greater representation on the Houston-Galveston Area Council or rescind membership.

Also of note

Those living in Clear Creek ISD will also have three ballot items to consider:Proposition A is a voter-approval tax rate election, or VATRE, that would result in a tax rate of $0.9746 per $100 valuation to close a budget shortfall. If the VATRE fails, the tax rate would be $0.9446 per $100 valuation.


Propositions B and C are for $302 million worth of bonds for various projects around the district.

Additionally, Seabrook voters will be able to cast ballots for three propositions for a total of $32.1 million worth of bonds to fund a new Public Safety Building, renovations to the Seabrook Fire Station and buying a new fire engine.

Early voting in Galveston County is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at a number of locations Oct. 23-28 and Oct. 30-Nov. 1. Additionally, early voting runs from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 2-3.

Voting locations in and around League City include:
  • North County Annex, 174 Calder Road, League City
  • Education Support Center, 2425 E. Main St., League City
  • Hometown Hero’s Park, 1001 E. League City Parkway, League City
  • Kemah Community Center, 800 Harris Ave., Kemah
In Harris County, early voting runs 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 23-28, noon-7 p.m. Oct. 29 and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 3-Nov. 3.

In Harris County, there are two voting locations near the Clear Lake area. Those are:
  • Freeman Branch Library, 16616 Diana Lane, Houston
  • University of Houston-Clear Lake Bayou Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston
  • San Jacinto College South Campus Jones Technical Building, 13735 Beamer Road, Houston
Voters can vote at any early voting location that is within their county of residence, according to the Vote Texas website.

However, Seabrook voters can vote at Seabrook City Hall, 1700 First St., Seabrook, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 7.
