What is the most important issue facing the city of Houston, and how would you address it?

Public safety. I will continue to support our police with the manpower, equipment and technology they need to make our communities safer. I also will advocate for increased funding for the Houston Forensic Science Center so evidence is processed more quickly for trial.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I have a proven track record of being responsive to every constituent and prepared for every vote. I know this job; I love this work, and I have the experience needed to address Houston's challenges and promote Houston's strengths. I will carry my strong work ethic into my second term.

If elected, what would be your top priorities?

Making our city safer; improving our city's street, drainage and sidewalk infrastructure; enhancing quality of life in our neighborhoods; promoting parks and a cleaner, greener Houston; keeping a watchful eye on city spending by cutting waste and inefficiencies; and supporting measures to put Houston on sound financial footing

Rigo Hernandez

Experience: This is my first time in politics

Occupation: IT Helpdesk

What is the most important issue facing the city of Houston, and how would you address it?

Trust in our city officials to help mitigate the financial stress Houstonians are facing. With rising cost of living, we need to find ways to save Houstonians money. One major way is improving our public transportation. This particular idea could potentially save citizens thousands of dollars a year.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I am not influenced by special interests, and my opinions are not biased to favor anyone, but rather, in the best interest of everyone. My campaign is financed by my own funds, and my ideas are put together through research and listening to my constituents. I'm here to serve Houston.

If elected, what would be your top priorities?

Public safety—remove Houston from No. 2 in sex trafficking. Public transportation—lower the number of cars on the road and reduce traffic. Empowering communities through grants to fund community events—improving community morale has a domino effect that both improves the quality of neighborhoods and potentially lowers crime rates.
