According to unofficial early voting results, incumbent John Hesser is leading in the race for the Georgetown City Council District 3 seat. Hesser has received 685 votes, representing 62.5 percent of the total, and his opponent, Dwaine Boydston, has received 411 votes, representing 37.5 percent of the total.

“I'm quite humbled,“ Hesser said. "There are so many things starting to happen ... and I would very much like to be a part of it."

Hesser said his main concern is the city's financials, and his other top priorities are managing the city's growth without raising taxes on existing taxpayers while bringing in businesses to add jobs, increase the commercial tax base and reduce the tax burden on residents.

Boydston said he thought the top priorities for the city are re-evaluating the city's long-term policy for transportation needs as well as evaluating police and firefighter manpower requirements and addressing threats to the integrity of the downtown area.

The winner of the race will serve a three-year term.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
