January: Pho MPH offers home-cooked Vietnamese food to Georgetown

Georgetown's newest Vietnamese restaurant, Pho MPH, offers a family-friendly atmosphere and extensive menu of home-style cooking.

The spot opened in 2022, following two other Pho MPH locations in the Austin area, including The Triangle and South Austin.

March: The Grumpy George exports British pub to Georgetown's downtown

European immigrants Karen and Jack Soeffker opened the The Grumpy George restaurant after finding success with a backyard dinner project.


While the project was originally born out of pandemic boredom, Karen Soeffker said it gradually gained a following among her friends in the Great British Club of Georgetown, who suggested the pair open a public location.

The self-described "serial entrepreneurs" partnered with fine dining chef Michael Tubens to open The Grumpy George in November, just a few steps away from their other business, All Things Kids.

April: From farm to table to Round Rock: Blue Corn Harvest expands Austin footprint

Austin-based restaurant Blue Corn Harvest, known for its locally sourced Southwestern cuisine and family-friendly dining, has now expanded to Round Rock.

The locally owned chain has four other locations in the Austin area, including Cedar Park, Georgetown and Leander.

April: The Daily Blend brings healthy eats to Liberty Hill


Nikki and Jordan Melchor, along with partner Michael Cody, opened The Daily Blend in November after noticing the lack of healthy, on-the-go food options in Liberty Hill.

“We’re lacking healthy-eating options in the area, and that's why we’re here,” Jordan Melchor said.

July: Central Texas restaurateur expands La Riv Italian concept to Georgetown

Under the guidance of chef and owner Vira Chudasma, La Riv Wood Fired Italian Grill in Georgetown aims to marry fresh local ingredients and flavors with traditional Italian fare.

Chudasma first fell in love with Italian cuisine during her travels through Italy. Journeying through Tuscany, Northern Italy, Parma and Bologna, she felt a connection to the fusion of culture, wine and food in local eateries known as trattorias.

August: Tejas Meat Supply in Georgetown expands restaurant menu, continues butcher shop offerings


Tejas Meat Supply has provided customers with sandwiches and prime cuts of meat since it opened on Oct. 31, 2020. Now, the restaurant has expanded its menu to offer diners a wider selection.

“Just about a month ago, we opened a full kitchen, so then we added burgers, additional appetizers, salads, fries [and] chips,” co-owner Keith Odom said.

New menu items include a caesar salad, loaded barbecue fries and build-your-own burgers on brioche or gluten-free buns.

September: Dale’s Essenhaus blends homemade comfort meals with community atmosphere

Since opening Dale’s Essenhaus in 1997, Dale Cockerell has fostered a space for the Walburg community to join together through homemade comfort food and weekly live entertainment.


Cockerell bought the property in 1997 after Joe’s Bar went up for sale. Cockerell said he changed the bar into a restaurant with a focus on burgers to pay tribute to Walburg’s German history.

“It went from a place where guys hang out to a place where families hang out with kids,” Cockerell said.

October: Gold Burger Diner: where historic and modern share a classic meal

Gold Burger Diner promotes an inviting atmosphere with chipper employees and pumps savory smells into Georgetown’s downtown hub.

Owned by Cody Hirt, Tommy McCormick, Tim Carr, Brad Strittmatter, Troy Hellmann and Brady Clark, Gold Burger Diner opened in Georgetown Square on July 12. The project started a year and a half ago after the owners decided to fill the hole the historic district was missing, Hirt and Strittmatter said.
The chicken salad ($6 per cup) and broccoli salad ($5 a cup) are some of the most ordered items on the menu.

November: Laurie’s Cafe creates comforting environment in downtown Georgetown


For over 30 years, Laurie’s Cafe has established an inviting, homey environment where customers can enjoy a home-cooked meal.

Co-owner Beth Ernest said she and her husband, Don, purchased the restaurant in 2017. Prior to that, she said the cafe has found a home in Georgetown for over 30 years under different ownership.
