North Austin's Chaparral Ice has nearly completed its renovations under new ownership.[/caption]

Chaparral Ice, Austin’s only NHL-regulation-sized ice rink that is open to the public, is scheduled to complete renovations in late September. The facility is located at Northcross Mall, 2525 W. Anderson Lane, Austin.

Chaparral Ice announced its new owner, former Director of Coaching for the Ice Hockey Association of Austin Ryan Raya, in May. Raya oversaw the rink's extensive renovation process, which includes a new Longhorn locker room, heated spectator seating and a sports bar. The rink’s scheduled programming has not been affected by these projects.

The Chaparral Sports Bar is scheduled to open Oct. 27 when The University of Texas at Austin hockey team plays Texas Christian University at the facility.
