On the May 7 ballot, voters in and around The Woodlands will see a slew of races related to Municipal Utility Districts, or MUDs. What is a MUD, you ask? Community Impact Newspaper editor Vanessa Hold breaks it down.

Sugar Land 95 project focuses on education

In early 2018, routine construction for Fort Bend ISD’s James Reese Career and Technical Center led to the discovery of the remains of 95 people buried on the property, believed to have died at the Bullhead Convict Labor Camp during Texas’ convict labor leasing program in the late 19th century.

This year, Fort Bend ISD has rolled out the first steps of its Sugar Land 95 memorialization project, including a new exhibit at the James Reese Career and Technical Center—and conversations around the future of the project continue.
