The city of Plano is seeking community feedback to determine its priorities for the Legacy area in a survey closing June 12.
In a nutshell
Plano Director of Planning Christina Day said feedback from the survey will “establish a shared vision and identify priorities that will guide plan development” in the Legacy area.
The survey asks residents to determine whether the Legacy area needs more residences, office space, retail, entertainment, parks or other types of spaces. The survey also asks about parts of the Legacy area residents and frequent visitors may want to preserve.

The Legacy area is a 5-square-mile business, retail and residential district in northwest Plano, according to the city website. It has a population of roughly 10,000 residents with more than 96,000 people employed in the district.
Day said the Legacy area has been successful for more than four decades, but the city is working on a more focused plan because of evolving market conditions and legislative changes.
The Legacy Area Master Plan will be created from the input of Plano residents, visitors and stakeholders, Day said.
“[The plan] is undertaken to identify land use and redevelopment priorities guiding future growth, change and investment within the district,” she said.
Day said a project update will be presented to the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council later in the summer.
