Denton officials announced the city's streets department will conduct a road resurfacing project across multiple city streets through the month of September.
What’s happening?
According to a city release, the project began Sept. 9 and will continue through Sept. 29. The project will result in some road closures on both residential streets and major roadways.
The project, which includes a micro-surfacing process of the road's top surface, will be broken down into four phases:
First phase: Sept. 9-12, impacting 20 roads
Second phase: Sept. 14-19, affecting 30 roads
Third phase: Sept. 21-25, including 13 roads
Fourth phase: Sept. 28-29, affecting one road
Each micro-surfacing segment application typically takes 4-6 hours and will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Once the roadways have cured, the streets will reopen.
The city stated that households affected by any closures will receive a door hanger pamphlet with the scheduled date, a reminder to move vehicles off the roadway before crews arrive, a reminder that residents cannot leave or enter their homes while the road cures and contact information for the crew superintendent on duty.

The city release states that the purpose of micro-surfacing is to extend the pavement lifespan of an already well-maintained road.
