Upcoming projects
CR 137 and FM 1660 S.
Project: The project includes construction of additional lanes and a roundabout at the intersection of CR 137 and FM 1660.
Update: Per city officials, right-of-way acquisition, which is the purchase of property to widen the road, was completed in April.

- Cost: $11.2 million
- Funding source: Hutto Economic Development Corp.
Deepwood Drive extensionProject: This project will extend the roadway from RM 620 to Sam Bass Road in Round Rock. The street will be four lanes with a roundabout at the Sam Bass intersection.
Update: Per city officials, the contractor is conducting field investigation and schematic development phase, with a 30% design schematic due this month.
- Timeline: will let in 2027 or 2028, depending on Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization funding schedule
- Cost: $9.6 million for construction
- Funding source: combination of CAMPO and Type B sales tax revenue
South Pope Bend repavingProject: Plans include removing 7 inches of existing asphalt and repaving 1.5 miles on the roadway in Bastrop County.
Update: Bastrop County commissioners will consider a contract with Asphalt Inc. on July 20. Officials hope to have the work finished before Aug. 12, ahead of Cedar Creek students returning to school.
- Timeline: 10 calendar days from start; work must be completed before nearby Cedar Creek students return to school Aug. 12
- Cost: $952,782.50
- Funding source: Bastrop County Precinct 1 budgeted funds
Ongoing projectsBurnet Road Mobility Program
Project: The project will feature updated traffic signals, improved crossings, bus stop improvements, trail connections, curb extensions, drainage improvements, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant shared-use paths, raised medians and more on Burnet Road from White Horse Trail to US 183 (C2), Bright Verde Way to MoPac (C3) and US 183 to Bright Verde Way (C4).
Update: According to Austin Transportation and Public Works officials, all three segments are officially under construction as of early June. C2 is expected to be complete in July 2027, followed by C4 in October 2027 and C3 in December 2028.

- Cost: $64 million
- Funding source: 2016 Mobility Bond
I-35 Capex North ExpansionProject: This project will add one tolled lane to I-35 from US 290 East to SH 45, with a diverging diamond intersection at Wells Branch Parkway in Pflugerville.
Update: Per city officials, work is underway to widen frontage roads from Grand Avenue Parkway to SH 45.
- Timeline: March 2023-early 2029
- Cost: $606 million
- Funding source: funded by CAMPO and the Texas Department of Transportation
William Cannon at Bluff Springs intersection repairsProject: Austin is making improvements to the intersection in response to residents’ safety concerns. According to a news release from the city, the intersection will be replaced with concrete, rather than asphalt, which lasts longer. The project also includes ADA improvements.
Update: The city began improving the intersection July 1. During construction, commuters can expect temporary lane closures, traffic signal interruptions and increased travel times.
