Katy city council to canvass votes, swear in new members Monday  

The Katy City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday to canvass votes from the local elections and swear in new members. New members Janet Corte and Chris Harris will represent Ward A and the At Large positions, respectively, on the council. Katy ISD to canvass votes Tuesday, swear in Champagne and Gesoff

The Katy ISD board of trustees will canvass votes from the school board election at a special meeting 5:30 p.m. May 15 at the Education Support Complex. New members Dawn Champagne for position 7 and Susan Gesoff for position 6 will be sworn in at the meeting. 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy.

ICYMI: Katy ISD Superintendent Lance Hindt announces resignation

Katy ISD Superintendent Lance Hindt announced May 10 at a special board meeting that he will resign from his position effective Jan. 1, 2019. At the same meeting trustees approved an order to hire outside special counsel to pursue a possible defamation suit in support of Hindt and KISD staff.

In an amendment to Hindt’s contract that was shared with media partners last week, the district disclosed it will incur all legal fees associated with the proposed lawsuit, and that Hindt will receive two years of his pay as a severance package.

Early voting for primary elections starts this week
