Magnolia City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 18111 Buddy Riley Blvd., Magnolia, for a workshop session regarding a proposed change in the city's property tax rate. During the regular meeting that follows the workshop, a Vietnam War veteran will present a dog tag to the family of a U.S. Marine who was killed in action. The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department welcomes its new amphibious flood rescue vehicle made by Hydratrek to its fleet Thursday. The Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce hosts a ribbon-cutting event at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, to celebrate the renovation of the gazebo located in front of Walgreen's near FM 1774 and FM 1488. The event is free to attend and open to the public. The statewide sales tax holiday returns Friday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 13.
