Two new vehicle additions allow the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department to expand its services, Chief Gary Vincent said.

The MVFD added a new fire engine with additional water capacity in late July to Station 185, located at 11515 FM 1488, Magnolia.

“It’s more reliable, it’s got the new technology, and we think it’s a great addition to public safety in the area,” Vincent said.

In August, the MVFD will also add a custom amphibious vehicle made by Hydratrek to its fleet. The vehicle allows first responders to cross both land and water during a flood.

“It will allow us to rescue people that are in need of assistance that we currently have no way of accessing or helping,” Vincent said. “We’re very excited about the chance to improve our service to the community.”
