'Twas the week before Christmas, and all of Frisco was enthralled with thoughts of elections, Santa, camps and football. Here are five things to know this week in Frisco:

Filing for Frisco City Council ends Monday

Filing for the Place 1 seat on Frisco City Council ends Monday at 5 p.m. The city will draw names at 5:30 p.m. to determine the order in which they will appear on the ballot. The drawing will take place in the council chambers. Click here for more information about filing for City Council.

Milk and Cookies with Santa

The COOP Frisco hosts its second annual event Tuesday with two sessions to choose from, featuring Santa mingling with children, milk and cookies for everyone and a photo with Santa. Reservations are required. Event times are 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 2-4:30 p.m, and the cost is $30 per child. Visit www.thecoopfrisco.com for more information.

Minecraft Engineering Camps

Presented by Play-Well Teknologies, the project-based program at the National Videogame Museum teaches principles and methods of engineering to children using LEGOs. There are two sessions for children ages 5-7 and 7-12: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (ages 5-7) and 1:30-4 p.m. (ages 7-12). Registration is required, and the cost is $35.

Teens4Green recycling event

Teens4Green and Frisco Environmental Services will host an recycling event Thursday to sort through hard-to-recycle items. The event begins at 9 a.m. at 6616 Walnut St. Click here to register.

GEICO State Champions Bowl Series

The 2016 GEICO State Champions Bowl Series features high school football state champions competing against one another in a doubleheader. Games are played at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday at The Ford Center at The Star. The games will be televised live on ESPNU.
