City Council approved nearly $300,000 to install a splash pad at San Jose Park in southeastern Georgetown at its Jan. 13 meeting.

Manor-based Progressive Commercial Aquatics Inc. will install the splash pad, which could be open by summer, said Kimberly Garrett, Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department director.

"Since October we have been working with residents to determine a location and have unanimously determined San Jose would be a perfect spot," Garrett said.

Garrett said the splash pad will recirculate and filter the water to reduce backwash and is expected to be open annually April through September depending on the weather.
