The McKinney Community Development Corp. awarded $2.66 million to three local projects expected to benefit the community, according to a news release.
In a nutshell
The MCDC board of directors awarded funding as part of its Project Grants program during a Feb. 26 meeting. Project grants are available for eligible infrastructure improvement projects, projects related to low-income housing and more, according to MCDC’s website.
MCDC was created in 1996 after McKinney voters approved a half-cent sales tax to be used for grants and projects that enhance the city’s amenities. Grant funding is approved by the board of directors, a seven-member body appointed by McKinney City Council.
Each project is selected for its “strong potential to benefit both residents and visitors while enhancing the overall quality of life in McKinney,” the news release states.
More than $230 million has been awarded to projects, events and retail infrastructure projects since MCDC’s founding. To learn more, visit www.mckinneycdc.org.
