Over 73,000 students returned to Conroe ISD on Aug. 9 for the 2023-24 school year.

Three new schools welcomed students for the first time, including the two refurbished and redesigned schools, Veterans Memorial Intermediate School and Moorhead Junior High School. Superintendent Curtis Null and CISD administration greeted students and parents at the doors of the newest school, Hines Elementary School in the Grand Oaks feeder zone.

Hines Elementary houses kindergarten to fourth grade and opened in August as part of the $653.57 million bond voters approved in 2019. Hines Elementary is named after retired Deputy Superintendent Christopher J. Hines. The campus mascot is a husky, and the school is spearheaded by Principal Erin Mathe.
