“It feels great,” Marshall head coach James Williams said to Fox Sports Southwest after this past weekend’s win. "These kids deserve it; they’ve worked so hard. These are great kids, great community, great school. I appreciate these guys for the effort they’ve put in. They made a commitment, they made a goal, and they went and got it.”
Marshall is one of three Houston-area schools that advanced to the state championships. Galena Park ISD’s North Shore Senior High School will play for the 6A Division I title, and Alvin ISD’s Shadow Creek High School will play for the 5A Division I title. Schools are classified and put into divisions based on enrollment numbers, with 6A Division I schools having the highest enrollment.
