A closer look
The new space inside R.B. Tullis Library will be a Family Place Library, which is a national early literacy initiative. Per the release, the space is designed to encourage hands-on playtime, reading time and opportunities for families to meet other families.
"Libraries are places where families come together, children discover the joy of learning and lifelong memories begin,” MCMLS Executive Director Janna Hoglund said via the release. “Family Place at R.B. Tullis Library gives us a wonderful opportunity to welcome families, connect our youngest learners with their community, and inspire a lifelong love of reading and discovery.”
Per the release, the Family Place Library will feature:
A dramatic-play kitchen
Puzzles, blocks and transportation toys
A drawing station with an accessible board
Picture books
A parenting resource section
With the addition of the Family Place Library, workshops featuring early literacy specialists will also be offered, according to the release. More details on the workshops will be announced soon.
