Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels officials have announced the appointment of their new executive director. The leadership transition took effect July 24.

The details

Newly appointed Executive Director Doug Simpson is expected to lead the organization, succeeding former Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert, who has served as the executive director for the past four years.

"It has been an honor to work alongside dedicated staff, volunteers and community partners who are deeply committed to providing essential services to our senior population. I have full confidence in Doug Simpson's ability to lead the organization forward, and I wish him every success in this role," Hebert said.

Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels—providing hot, home-delivered meals to more than 1,500 senior citizens daily, many of whom live alone and cannot prepare their own meals—is an organization that also offers meals from 12 congregate sites or community centers, transportation to and from these centers, health screenings, and recreational activities for older adults.

In their own words
