The two groups have signed an agreement with the transaction expected to close at the end of the year, according to the press release. Village Medical will continue to operate under its name, and clinic patients do not need to take any action, per the release.
The acquisition will apply to 27 Village Medical clinics in Greater Houston, per the release. The clinics span locations in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery counties.
“We believe people deserve a better healthcare system, and at the center of that is a company that is accountable for keeping you healthy,” Harbor Health co-founder and CEO Tony Miller said in a statement.
After Village Medical is acquired, Harbor will operate nearly 70 clinics across the state, according to the release.
“Village Medical Houston’s clinicians have spent years changing how care is practiced,” Miller said. “When we set out to build the best payvider in Texas, Houston was always central to it. Together, Houstonians have a new company that delivers their care, pays for it and answers for both.”

Harbor plans have no deductible, and referrals are covered at no cost, according to the release.

The clinics will continue to accept the insurance plans they currently do, per the release.
Erin Page, Harbor Health president and chief operating officer, said in a statement that she grew up in Houston and spent nearly three years working at Village Medical.
