Four new businesses have opened since November at the under-construction Manvel Town Center development, officials confirmed.

The background

Texas retail developer Weitzman started construction in June 2021 on the 273-acre shopping center anchored by the city's first H-E-B grocery store, Community Impact previously reported.

The project is meant to expand Manvel's commercial infrastructure in support of its rapid population growth—which rose 137.7% between 2010 and 2020, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey.

Upon completion, Manvel Town Center will incorporate more than 1 million square feet of retail, entertainment, hospitality, medical and office space, according to March 18 news release related to the new Lowe's Home Improvement coming to the center this fall.

The update

Erin Hancock, Weitzman’s vice president of development and asset management in Houston, said in the March release the surrounding community is embracing the new retail and dining options at Manvel Town Center.

"We are getting such great feedback from our new tenants, and from the community, and that success will build as Manvel Town Center continues to expand its offerings,” Hancock said in a statement.
