Fulshear officials break down multifamily development growth
The city of Fulshear has seen an influx of multifamily options since the beginning of 2020.
In that time, the city has seen nine apartment complexes open with another two under construction and one in plan review, per city data. Of those 12 developments, 3,591 units have opened or are underway with another 348 under review, which would bring the city’s total units to 3,939.

Ismaili Center debuts new all-day café showcasing global cuisine
Officials with the Ismaili Center in Houston announced Sept. 3 that they have partnered with Jackson & Company, a high-end event production and catering company, to launch a new all-day café at the cultural landmark.
The menu will offer globally inspired breakfast dishes, including shakshuka, avocado toast, egg bhurji croissants, beef kolaches and breakfast tacos served on flaky paratha. Throughout the day, guests can expect salads, shareable plates, sandwiches, wraps and entrees that showcase Houston and the Ismaili Center.

'Redefine what is possible': Kinder Children's Cancer Center secures $10M in development funds
Kinder Children’s Cancer Center, a new medical facility in the works between The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital, received a $10 million commitment from the Robert R. and Kay M. Onstead Foundation, according to a Sept. 9 news release.
The philanthropic gift will support the future center’s capital projects and further its mission to find a cure for childhood cancer, officials said.

Regional organizers revitalize buried study for Clear Lake water taxi
Organizers are reviving a feasibility study for a Clear Lake water taxi service that could provide a cross-lake transit alternative to driving or taking an Uber.
The updated study will look at whether the service should be privately operated, fare-based or part of a larger transit network, said Amy Skicki, president and CEO of the Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership.

New Indian restaurant opens in Pearland
Ruchi's Indian Cuisine opened its doors in early September in Pearland along Business Center Drive.
The restaurant offers starters, such as chilly paneer, apollo fish and crispy chicken. Biryani dishes include chicken dum, paneer fry, lamb fry and goat fry.

Missouri City proposes City Council and commission changes
Missouri City meetings could see some changes in an effort to increase accessibility and flexibility.
At a Sept. 8 meeting, the Missouri City City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to amend select council meeting rules and some regulations for boards, committees and commissions.
