Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão opened the doors to its Katy eatery in late April.

The restaurant serves various seafood and meats grilled in Southern Brazil’s traditional churrasco style, which involves cooking skewered meat over an open flame, according to the business website. Other menu items include small plates and a seasonal market table featuring fresh salads, cheeses, meats and antipasto.

Founded in Southern Brazil in 1979, the steakhouse and has more than 70 locations across the globe. This is the fifth Houston-area location for Fogo de Chão, with the eatery opening in the space formerly occupied by Harris County Smokehouse.


According to an April 28 news release from Fogo de Chão, the Katy restaurant features:
  • A dining room centered around an open churrasco grill
  • An indoor bar where guests can enjoy all-day happy hour
  • Private dining spaces available for reservation

What else?

The Katy restaurant will also feature the Next Level Lounge, a space where guests can partake in craft cocktails, South American wines, and a premium whiskey and bourbon menu, per the release. Only five Fogo de Chão's have or will have the lounge available, with Katy being the only location in Texas showcasing this area, a spokesperson said in an email.

Meanwhile, Fogo de Chão officials will donate 10% of the location's first week of sales to Katy Christian Ministries, per the release. The nonprofit provides social services—such as financial assistance, health benefits and food assistance—to individuals in certain ZIP codes.

Fogo de Chão’s four other local locations are in The Woodlands, Cypress, Friendswood and Houston off Westheimer Road, according to the release.


Project information from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a sixth Houston-area Fogo de Chão could also come to Sugar Land Town Square later this year.
