The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Board approved construction projects on Terminals A, C, D, E and F and road work near the Rental Car Center during the Aug. 6 meeting.
The projects are part of the DFW Forward capital plan, according to the airport website.
Terminal A
A reimbursement agreement with American Airlines was approved for $6.5 million for construction of the Terminal A pier ramp space, part of the Central Terminal Area expansion.
According to board documents, the work will include interior reconstruction for offices, ramp-level restrooms, a breakroom and renumbering the north part of Terminal as the north Skylink station.
A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows the project will encompass 51,000 square feet and has an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2028.
Terminal C
More than $940 million was approved on two projects within Terminal C.
Work on Terminal C by Suffolk-3i, a joint venture between Suffolk Construction and 3i Contracting, will be extended by 975 calendar days to Dec. 31, 2029.
Phase 1 of the Terminal C is complete and this contract for $832.2 million covers the remaining scope of the renovation, according to board documents.
The contractor will handle the demolition of the top two levels, followed by the construction of a new structure that will include steel, building envelope, curtain walls and main HVAC systems. In addition, American Airlines will concurrently perform the interior finish-out for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, data, technology and other terminal operations support.
In addition, there will be the installation of the south Skylink Station canopy at the new baggage-handling system and the DFW Art Program's structure support systems and lighting.
That contract is for $91.7 million, according to board documents.
Terminals D and E
Vanderlande Industries, Inc., from Marietta, Georgia, will provide operations and maintenance service for Terminal E and a baggage handling control room operation for Terminal D.
The 5-year contract has a start date of October and is for an amount not to exceed $66.8 million, according to board documents.
Terminal F
A nearly $300 million reimbursement agreement was approved with American Airlines for the Terminal F baggage handling system for the newest terminal that is set to open in 2027.
The Fort Worth-based airline procured the equipment to support the inbound, outbound and early bag storage system. A supplemental funding request for the connection to the Terminal F head house and connecting building will be coming at a later date, according to the board documents.
Phase 2 of the ticketing, processing, garage and roadways was approved for $73.5 million, which has a 487 calendar-day term with Uplift Partners of Richardson. That total includes $6.6 million for change orders on an as-needed basis.
This contract is for the design and construction of the infrastructure that will be located in the median of International Parkway for customer ticketing, processing, baggage drop-off and baggage claim areas, according to board documents.
The parking garage will feature 5,200 spaces with a dedicated pedestrian bridge connecting to the security checkpoint and gates.
According to board documents, customers will initially use Terminal D for these services until the new facility is completed.
Rental Car Center
A more than $9 million contract was awarded to Archer Western Construction LLC of Irving for Rental Car Center bus roads and bridge rehabilitation. The project has a 455 calendar-day term with an estimated completion in late October 2027.
The roadways and bridges around the Rental Car Center were constructed in 2000. The work will include phased work for concrete pavement, bridges, stormwater drains, retaining walls and related infrastructure, according to board documents.
