In November, Tarrant County voters will elect individuals to three at-large positions on the Tarrant Appraisal District board of directors.
What’s on the ballot
There are four candidates vying for Place 1 on the board: Sayeda Bilqees Syed, Rebecca Hardy, Phyllis Grissom and Byron Haynes. Eric Morris, who currently holds Place 1, is not running for re-election.
Morris said in a social media post that his decision not to run again is primarily driven by changes in his personal life.
Place 2 is held by Callie Rigney, who is also not seeking re-election. Marshall Hobbs, Paul Stockard, Cary Cheshire and Ambika Sharma have all filed for the position, according to appraisal district documents.
Two candidates filed for Place 3: incumbent Matt Bryant and John Adams.
The Tarrant Appraisal District is a political subdivision that appraises properties and oversees homestead exemptions in the county. The board of directors is responsible for appointing the chief appraiser, setting the district’s budget and establishing the reappraisal plan.
What else?
To vote in the Nov. 3 election, individuals must register by Oct. 5. Early voting will take place Oct. 19-30.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
