Steve Noskin is seeking to be re-elected to the Place 2 seat on Frisco ISD board of trustees. He is running against Natalie Hebert. Community Impact Newspaper sent Noskin a set of questions about his candidacy. His answers have been edited for publication style. This article is part of ongoing May 4 election coverage and does not constitute an endorsement of the candidate.
Why did you decide to run for the Frisco ISD board of trustees?
I am running for re-election for Place 2. As an experienced school board trustee both here and in New York as well as a business owner, I bring a different perspective to the board. I want to continue to be accessible to all stakeholders and enhance our transparency.
What experience do you think prepares you for serving on the board?
I served Frisco ISD for my first term and experienced firsthand my constituency, meeting with many of our stakeholders reaffirmed the needs. I served for six years on the Half Hollow Hills school board, serving as president for two years. I have been a business owner for over 25 years and founded a not-for-profit youth sports league. We have raised over $1 million since 2005.
What would you support out of the state Legislature this session in regards to school finance reform?
In the current House Bill 3, I would support the increased basic allotment per student, additional golden pennies, reduced compression rate and lowered recaptured rate. These items would help our financial position in the district.
