Tess Coverman

Sales Director

Tess Coverman has been with Community Impact Newspaper since 2011, firmly believing in the mission to build communities of informed citizens and thriving businesses through the collaboration of a passionate team. Originally Tess was a huge fan and reader of the paper, so when she wanted to take her career in a new direction, she sought a position as an account executive in Central Austin with CI. After a year on the job, she was promoted to senior account executive in Southwest Austin, and from there she was promoted to sales director with a focus on leading and training sales team members in every metro.

While at CI, Tess is most proud of being recognized internally as Salesperson of the Year in 2016 as well as her awards from the Alliance for Women in Media-Austin as Print Salesperson of the Year in 2016 and 2017. She has also received two internal “stone” recognitions for her values in Passion and Faith, respectively.

Tess was born and raised in Austin, later moving to New York City to attend New York University, where she earned a bachelor of fine arts in cinema studies and a minor in sociology. She then she rounded out her education with an MBA from Purdue University in a unique international program taking place in Germany. Tess spends her free time as a fitness and travel lover, and building a home with her partner, Alise, and their two dogs.

The best advice she’s ever been given …

There’s never a shortage of advice to take into consideration. Here are my favorites from over the years: do what you love, find the silver lining, fake it ‘til you make it, and fail forward.

What she loves the most about her job …

The opportunity to work with so many different types of people, both externally with clients and internally with all CI departments.

Tess’s adventures across the globe include …

Austria, Belize, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Hungary, Japan, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Sweden, United Kingdom, and of course lots of awesome US road trips.
