John Alper

Market President Dallas | Fort Worth

John was born and raised in Southern California before attending SMU in Dallas. Upon graduating in 1990, he began a 30-year career in the sports and entertainment industry, with local stints at the Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas, the Frisco RoughRiders, and Legends.

John and his wife, Heather, have lived in the Dallas-Fort Work metro for the past 35 years, including the last 11 in Plano, with their daughter, Ava, and son, Shane. Heather is an accomplished executive in the wine and spirits industry.

John left the sports industry in early 2025 to join Community Impact, however he still has a love for sports, playing golf competitively and recreationally.

Why did you decide to join Community Impact?

I have always had a strong affinity for the CI publication and daily newsletter, especially as other media outlets have reduced their coverage of local community news. I found the Plano coverage to be tremendously useful for our family in a variety of ways and was elated when the opportunity arose to serve as President of this metro.

What similarities do you see between your sports/entertainment background and your new role with Community Impact?

It's all about passion. Few things can unite people the way sports and entertainment events can. In sports, especially, people are passionate about their professional teams, college affiliations, and even youth sports. Similarly, people are extremely passionate about the communities they live in. Community Impact serves and fuels that passion throughout Texas.
