1. Bernard Street roadway restoration
Project: Bernard Street from West Hickory to West Chestnut streets will undergo a waterline replacement and roadway restoration, and crews will replace some of the sections of the sidewalk.
Update: Crews are replacing curbs, gutters and driveways ahead of final paving.

2. Mill overlay on Teasley Lane and Shady Oaks Drive
Project: The $1.6 million mill overlay package will replace the top layer of asphalt along specific roadways. Denton City Council approved the project and funding at an April 21 meeting.
Update: Portions of Teasley Lane and Shady Oaks Drive from I-35E to Colorado Boulevard will close while crews replace the road’s top layer of asphalt.

3. Traffic signal installations
Project: Denton crews completed the installation of two new traffic signals in the city. The first is at the intersection of Lakeview Boulevard and Shady Shores Road. The second was installed at the intersection of Teasley Lane and Hunter Creek Road.
Update: The first signal made operational Aug. 6. The second signal was made operational at the end of August, as of this edition’s press time. Both signals projects were done by the city of Denton, meaning the traffic operations team saved about $150,000 to $200,000 in construction costs at these locations. The city's Aug. 7 staff report shows new signals were completed at Lakeview Boulevard and Shady Shores Road and Teasley Lane and Hunter Creek Road.

4. Russell Newman Boulevard mill and overlay
Project: The road received a new top layer of asphalt as part of the $1.6 million mill overlay package, which replaces the top layer of asphalt along specific roadways.
Update: Russell Newman Boulevard from Loop 288 to North Mayhill Road reopened July 17, according to a city report.

Ongoing projects
5. Bonnie Brae Street upgrades, Phase 6
Project: Crews are working from US-380 to US-77 (Elm Street) to widen the road, replace utilities, improve sidewalks and upgrade street lighting. New traffic signals will be installed at intersections of Windsor, Riney, and US-77.
Update: Currently crews are conducting roadway work on the new southbound lane alignments and drainage improvements. Drivers should expect alternating and shifting traffic patterns, including closures and detours during construction.

6. Carroll Boulevard utility installation
Project: This Atmos Gas project will see new gas lines installed along Carroll Boulevard from West Prairie Street to Pearl Street.
Update: Lanes will be closed along Carroll as crews install the gas lines.

7. Hickory Creek Road widening Phase 3
Project: Crews will widen Hickory Creek Road from Riverpass Drive to FM 1830 (Country Club Road) and install a new bridge with four-lane divided roadway, sidewalk improvements and street lighting.
Update: Crews are currently in construction to install the new bridge.
