Q&A: Meet the Candidates running for Keller ISD, Place 6

Why are you running for school board?

I’m running because Keller ISD is at a critical point. My experience on KISD’s Long-Range Planning Committee and serving on a community board representing 4,600 homes with a multimillion-dollar budget has prepared me to bring strong leadership, fiscal responsibility and thoughtful planning to put students first.

What are the biggest challenges facing Keller ISD?

Public schools statewide face declining enrollment and rising costs, but Keller ISD is also losing students to neighboring districts. Fewer students mean less funding while the cost of operating and maintaining our schools continues to rise. These financial pressures require difficult decisions about staffing, facilities, programs and classroom resources.

How do you plan to address these issues?

We need to grow enrollment and invest more in our classrooms. I will push for open enrollment, expanded CTE opportunities and a review of central administration and spending. Our priority should be to fill teaching positions, improve teacher pay and ensure every available dollar reaches students and classrooms.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Every decision should begin with one question: How does this benefit students? I will prioritize strong academics, support teachers, strengthen special education, properly maintain our schools and keep resources in the classroom. Parents deserve a voice. Taxpayers deserve transparency. Both deserve confidence that every dollar supports these priorities.

Why are you running for school board?

I am running because I care deeply about KISD’s direction. I want to ensure it remains a top choice for families, a supportive place for educators and provides academic excellence for every student. My educational leadership experience and collaborative approach are exactly what the board needs to move forward.

What are the biggest challenges facing the Keller ISD?

Like many public school districts, funding and declining enrollment continue to pressure almost every aspect of KISD. Other major challenges facing our district include staff turnover, aging facilities and the urgent need to reunite our communities as “One KISD” so we can be our strongest.

How do you plan to address these issues?

To overcome these challenges, I will work collaboratively to implement responsible solutions navigating funding pressures and declining enrollment. I will prioritize staff retention, develop sustainable plans for aging facilities and actively foster collaboration to reunite our community as "One KISD," guided by truth, transparency and teamwork.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

My priorities will be academic excellence for all students, transparency and responsible stewardship, strong educators, KISD as a destination district and “One KISD:” Unity, trust and shared pride. My commitment is to act with transparency, truth and teamwork keeping students at the center of each decision.
