Business owner Dawn McKee will get to continue her lifelong dream after she received approval from Richardson City Council at its Jan. 31 meeting to open her own massage therapist suite.

The business, McKee Wellness, is located at 1780 N. Collins Blvd., Ste. 200A, Richardson. It is slated to hold a grand opening Feb. 7.

McKee is relaunching the business after 20 years as a massage therapist. She previously operated the business in Minnetonka, Minnesota, for three years before her family relocated back to Texas for her husband's job.

McKee said it has been an incredibly rewarding career to be a massage therapist, and she is excited to be back in business.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity,” she said. “Coming to Richardson is very full circle for me because I started [as a massage therapist] working for someone in their office in Richardson. Being able to start my own business where I got my start in 2001 is like coming home.”

McKee Wellness offers several different modalities of massage therapy, including Swedish, prenatal massage, myofascial release, sports massage, deep tissue, trigger point therapy and stretching, she said. These massages usually take between 30-120 minutes. The business also offers aromatherapy and hot stones.

McKee said each session is completely customizable as she tries to cater each experience to the individual.

She said there was a lot of deliberation in finding the right area for her business.

“I actually looked at quite a few different locations,” McKee said. “I knew I needed to find a place that was easy to get to and had a good professional setting. The room itself is large enough to accommodate any type of person or issue they might have going on.”

The massage suite is holding a grand opening special until March 18, in which guests receive $25 off their first session of 60 minutes or more. 952-297-6936. www.mckeewellness.com
