The early-voting period for the March 1 primary elections is set to conclude Feb. 25.

The results of these contested elections in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties will determine which candidates will represent the Republican and Democratic parties on ballots for the November races. Residents are not allowed to vote in both parties’ primaries.

As of Feb. 22, 198,205 early votes had been recorded across all four counties, according to each county's website.

Collin County had recorded 38,571 early votes across the county's 38 voting locations as of Feb. 22, according to online reported data. The county had 25,960 votes in the Republican Party primary and 12,611 votes in the Democratic Party primary. Voter turnout reached a high of 10,559 votes Feb. 22.

Across 47 polling locations, 61,849 early votes had been registered in Dallas County’s primary elections as of Feb. 22. According to online reported data, Dallas County had 38,077 votes for candidates in the Democratic Party primary and 23,772 votes for candidates in the Republican Party primary. The county recorded 17,269 votes Feb. 22.


Denton County had recorded 30,697 votes over the first eight days of early voting across its 36 polling locations. Over 72% of votes, or 22,221 total, were in the Republican Party primary, while 8,476 votes were recorded in the Democratic Party primary. The county had a high voter turnout Feb. 22 with 8,164 total votes.

Tarrant County had recorded 67,088 votes as of Feb. 22 with a voter turnout rate of nearly 5.5%. The county recorded 17,938 votes Feb. 22, marking its highest single-day early-voting turnout.
