Richardson ISD is closing all schools and offices Feb. 1 due to the winter storm warning forecast and anticipated hazardous travel condition.
Closure includes all games, activities and events Feb. 1, in addition to the xPlore after-school programs, according to district officials. A decision regarding school on Feb. 2 will be made by the superintendent's office after evaluating campus and travel conditions Jan. 31.
RISD previously closed school Jan. 31 after an initial winter storm warning was issued throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to the National Weather service. The forecast, now an ice storm warning, is projected to last throughout Feb. 2. Widespread icing on bridges and overpasses took place on the morning of Jan. 31.
