Richardson ISD is closing all schools and offices for Jan. 31 due to the winter storm warning forecast and anticipated hazardous travel condition.

Closure includes all games, activities and events for Jan. 31 in addition to the xPlore after-school programs, according to district officials. A decision regarding school on Feb. 1 will be made by the superintendent's office after evaluating campus and travel conditions Jan. 31.

A winter storm warning is in effect throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area until 6 a.m. Feb. 1 with dangerous road travel expected, according to the National Weather service. Widespread icing on bridges and overpasses is expected to take place as early as the morning of Jan. 31.

RISD previously canceled all after-school events, activities and games for Jan. 30, while bus routes ran on normal schedule. Residents can check the district's homepage, Facebook page or Twitter feed for more information and updates on closures.
