Why are you running for PISD board of trustees?

I decided to run for the board of trustees because my daughters are in second and fourth grades and have a long way to go in Plano ISD. So, I have a vested interest in ensuring the schools perform at the highest level possible, for the sake of my own children and the thousands of others that are educated by Plano ISD.

Why are you qualified for this position?

Serving people and meeting needs is very important to me. I serve my country as a U.S. Marine, on active duty for eight years and another 10 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, where I continue to serve at the rank of major. I serve my community as a soccer coach for my daughter's team. I serve my community through my church. The Marine Corps has taught me to lead, to listen and meet the needs of the mission and to exercise good judgment in difficult circumstances.

If elected, what will you focus on?

If elected, I will focus on three things: stewardship, citizenship and parental involvement. The board of trustees has a responsibility to the people of Plano to be good stewards of their children and the financial resources available. Citizenship is a critical element for students to learn to become productive members of society and serve a cause greater than themselves is a great challenge. Parental involvement is a critical element. Parents need to know that they can come to me to express their concerns and know that they will be heard. No one has a greater interest in the success of the student than the parent.
