The story has been updated to reflect those results According to unofficial voting results, John Keating and Justin Holland will advance to a runoff election for the State Rep. District 33 Republican race. Keating led the primary election with 37.63 percent of the votes, or 9,761 votes. Holland followed behind with 32.9 percent of the votes. Lorne Liechty garnered 29.46 percent of the votes. The runoff election is May 24. For the Democratic ticket, Karen Jacobs won with 74.61 percent of the votes, or 3,650 votes. Cristin Padgett followed behind with 25.39 percent of the votes. State representatives serve a two-year term. Republican candidates: Liechty is the current mayor of the city of Heath and has also served on Heath City Council for eight years. He is the founding partner of a law firm called. Liechty & McGinnis, LLP. Holland is currently serving as a Heath City Council member. Holland is the co-owner and manager of Regal Realtors and is a native of Rockwall. Keating is currently serving as a Frisco City Council member and is mayor pro tem. He is a U.S. Army veteran and is a member of various veteran organizations. Democratic candidates: Jacobs retired in 2013 from Raytheon, where her latest position was program director. Jacobs has been a Heath resident for more than 20 years, where she lives with her family. Padgett is a Frisco resident and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas. She currently serves as a court-appointed special advocate in Collin County. All results are unofficial until canvassed.
