An event to mark the official grand opening of District 121 in south McKinney will take place Nov. 18, according to a news release.

How we got here

The $250 million project, which broke ground in 2021, was developed by Craig International.

District 121 includes an eight-story office building, a large outdoor gathering space, and a number of businesses and restaurants. Some restaurants now open in District 121 include Mi Cocina, Bob’s Steak and Chop House, The Common Table and 400 Gradi.

The inaugural event, Taste & Tunes, will take place from noon-9 p.m. Nov. 18 at District 121, located at the northeast corner of SH 121 and Alma Road. The family-friendly event is free to attend and will include:
  • Live music from Top Band, Maylee Thomas Band, Travelin’ Jed and Taylor Swift Tribute: Reputation
  • An artist showcase featuring over $100,000 worth of art
  • A photo booth
  • A face-painting station
An official ribbon-cutting will take place at 2 p.m., and food items will be available for purchase from the Zero Gradi Gelato Cart as well as craft cocktails from Mi Cocina, according to the release.

District 121 will host community events and performances throughout the year, including movie nights, live music and more.

Other additions coming to the District 121 development include Hotel Denizen, a four-story boutique hotel, and breakfast restaurant The Broken Yolk, which is expected to open in 2024.
