A new program from the Transportation Security Administration, new speed limits on International Parkway, new parking and access fees, a hotel topping out and flight changes are among the updates from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
Gateside by TSA PreCheck
Gateside is a new program launched that allows non-flyers with an eligible TSA PreCheck membership to enter the secure area to meet or see off friends and family at the gate, meet for a layover, or shop or eat at restaurants within the airport. The TSA website says the program is free and to apply one to three days before a planned visit. Children can also participate but must be included on their parent/guardian's application.
DFW Airport is one of 13 airports to be part of the program and the only one in Texas currently. The TSA website said more airports will be added.
New speed limit
The Fort Worth City Council approved a change to the speed limit along International Parkway, the central road to reach the terminals. The Dallas City Council will need to vote to approve the change formally.
The speed limit will change from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour to enhance safety in the high-density terminal area, according to Fort Worth City Council documents.
The fine is up to $500, according to the ordinance and the traffic ticket will be handled by Grapevine’s municipal court.
New rates
The drive-up parking and airport access prices will change on Oct. 1.
The updated structure establishes fixed TollTag discounts for drive-up daily parking, passenger pickup and drop-off and trips through the airport, according to a news release.
New rates for pick-up or drop-off will decrease from $2 to $1 for vehicles on airport property between 8 minutes and 30 minutes for TollTag users. The rate for customers who pay with a credit card will go from $2 to $3.
Rates for 30 minutes to 60 minutes will be $3 for TollTag and $5 without and the cost for 1 hour to 2 hours will be $5 for TollTag and $7 for credit.
The cost to pass through the airport from the north exit to the south exit on International Parkway will be $12 for TollTag and $15 for credit card.
Parking will range from $14 to $37 per day with TollTag and $16 to $40 per day for credit card payments, according to the news release.
DFW Airport offers discounted parking through its website.
Hotel topping out
Hyatt House DFW held a topping-out ceremony on Aug. 21 for the 130-room hotel project.
The project is slated to be completed in the summer of 2027 and will be the fourth Hyatt hotel on airport property, according to previous reporting.

The Hyatt House DFW will be the only extended-stay hotel on the DFW campus, according to a news release. Woodbine Development Corp., Muckelroy & Falls and Merriman Anderson Architects are working on the project in the Southgate area of the airport.
Flight changes
Fiji Airways and Delta Air Lines have altered flights out of DFW Airport.
On Sept. 7, Fiji Airways stopped direct flights between Nadi International Airport and DFW Airport. Customers will now stop in Los Angeles or San Francisco, through a partnership with American Airlines, according to the Fiji Airways website.
Delta will stop direct flights from DFW Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on Jan. 4, 2027. After that, customers can fly to LaGuardia Airport in East Elmhurst, New York, from DFW Airport or have a layover in Atlanta before going to JFK Airport, according to its website.
Interlocal agreement
An interlocal agreement between the airport, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Trinity Metro for bus services between the Trinity Rail Express CentrePort Station and DFW Airport was approved for three years, with two one-year options, starting Oct. 1. The contract is for an amount not to exceed $1.25 million over the five-year term.
This replaced a previous interlocal agreement that was set to expire on Sept. 30. There has been bus service between CentrePort and DFW Airport since 2000, according to board documents.
