The Stix Icehouse owner Mike Luther said the concept was created by a desire to provide a fun experience for the whole family.
“We wanted to build a place where families can come with their kids that has really chill vibes where they can relax,” Luther said. “A backyard barbecue vibe where parents can have an adult beverage while their kids explore and be kids.”

Although Ogi’s European Bakery and Deli owner Hafsa Mirza didn’t take over the business until 2020, she has always had an interest in baking, often baking treats for school fundraisers. The bakery also gets all of its ingredients shipped from Europe, which Mirza said are healthier than food options available domestically.

Lacey and Noah Hester bought Hamm's Meat + Market in August 2023. Since then, they have created a lunch menu and hosted events, but still kept the culture of Hamm’s alive, they said. The downtown McKinney shop was originally established in 1954, according to a news release.
6. Pho Lane offers affordable Vietnamese cuisine, owner says
Pho Lane’s menu is small, offering Vietnamese cuisine with a street food approach, co-owner Trinh Yambao said. The restaurant opened in November 2023, and Yambao said her philosophy is that everyone should be able to come into the restaurant and experience good food at an affordable price.
