With an updated menu and huge variety of alcoholic beverages, Chop Shop McKinney offers something for everyone, General Manager Madison Hidle said.

What’s special about it?

Chop Shop McKinney is considered a sports bar, Hidle said, adding that during the day, however, the restaurant is family-oriented.

“Around sundown is when it changes to an adult atmosphere,” Hidle said. “Every Friday and Saturday, we have a DJ from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.”

In addition, the restaurant offers karaoke every Wednesday, which Hidle said is one of the most popular events. Chop Shop also has an outdoor concert venue and a rooftop bar with a “perfect overlook” that are open when the weather permits.

“We cater to so many different people,” Hidle said. “We just have all different walks of life come in, and it’s incredible.”

What’s on the menu?

A new executive chef was recently hired for the entire company, and as a result, the menu was revamped and elevated, Hidle said.

Of the new menu items, Hidle recommends the American muscle sandwich. The sandwich features blackened chicken breast, pepper jack cheese, onion strings, jalapenos, avocado and jalapeno ranch on a brioche bun.

The most popular menu item is the boss hog burger, which features bacon, fried egg, cheddar cheese, onion straws and spicy mayo. Other popular items include the trashcan nachos and Texas twist pretzel nuggets.

Several drinks on the menu have names to match the restaurant’s car theme, such as Radiator Fluid, Start Ur Engines and Red Corvette.

The bar also serves drinks based on local DFW sports teams, such as the Mavs shot, Stars shot and Cowboys. Lastly, Chop Shop McKinney offers several draft, canned and bottled beer options.

Quote of note

“I want everyone to know and experience the culture that we have here,” Hidle said. “I never want anyone to feel out of place. We want everyone to feel welcome and at home.”
