Plano ISD enrollment down more than 2,500 students from last school year
Plano ISD’s enrollment is down by more than 2,500 students from last school year. As of Sept. 4, the district had 41,303 students enrolled in all grade levels, down from 43,838 in October of last school year, Deputy Superintendent Johnny Hill told the board of trustees on Sept. 8.

Trader Joe’s plans store in north Fort Worth
A new grocery store is planned for the North City development in Fort Worth. Trader Joe’s filed for a permit for a store in north Fort Worth with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Sept. 11. The estimated cost of the work is $900,000.

El Fenix Mexican Restaurant temporarily closes McKinney location
The McKinney location of El Fenix Mexican Restaurant is temporarily closed for repairs, signage at the location states. The closure was ordered due to “evidence of structural and electrical safety violations that may jeopardize public safety,” an official order from McKinney Fire Marshal Brian M. Roach states.

Trader Joe's to open second Plano store
A new Trader Joe's location is set for the corner of Preston Road and Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Construction is expected to start in December and wrap up next July, according to a project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The Trader Joe's will anchor the new Promontory on Preston mixed-use project, which was approved by Plano City Council in March.

Project Nexus takes flight, launches air taxi testing at Perot Field in Fort Worth
The first public air taxi test in Texas debuted in Fort Worth Sept. 10 with an audience that included U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, Sen. Ted Cruz and numerous federal, state and regional leaders. The Texas Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration, officially launched Project Nexus at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The project is a pilot program for electric vertical takeoff and landing, or eVTOLs.

Red's on Main reopens Frisco location after funding challenges
Red’s on Main has reopened its Frisco location just over a month after announcing its closure. The restaurant announced its temporary closure July 30 as it sought additional funding amid a summer of declining business. The business reopened Sept. 9.
