Visit McKinney, the city’s tourism organization, opened its renovated experience center and new shop in early September.

The Visit McKinney Experience Center has been located downtown at 200 W. Virginia St. since January 2013. Renovations to the organization's offices, which began in November 2022, included removing walls and adding new paint and furnishings. The project also included a new mural in the experience center by local artist Andrea Holmes.

“Our goal was to create a welcoming place where visitors and residents could experience a little bit of what awaits them in our city,” Visit McKinney Executive Director Aaron Werner said in a news release.

The new shop at the Visit McKinney center offers McKinney merchandise and souvenirs, as well as items made by local businesses including Hamm’s Meat and Market, TexaKona Coffee Roasters and White Rock Soap Gallery.

The center also now offers a virtual reality experience that allows visitors to see McKinney sights, as well as other media and resources on McKinney events and businesses. The Visit McKinney Experience Center will continue to offer guided downtown walking tours on topics such as history and art, according to the release.
