The Northwest ISD board of trustees approved the instructional calendars for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years at its Jan. 24 meeting.

The board first looked at the 2022-23 school year calendar at its Jan. 10 meeting. Stephanie Espinosa, NISD executive director for curriculum and staff development, presented the proposed calendar to the board, and said it is almost a “carbon copy” of the 2021-22 calendar.

The approved 2022-23 calendar is almost the same as the one that was discussed at the last meeting. However, the last day of school will be May 26 instead of May 25, according to the calendar. The first day of school will be Aug. 17.

Nov. 21-25 is Thanksgiving break, Dec. 19-Jan. 2 is the winter holiday break, and March 13-17 is spring break. Students and staff also have holidays on Oct. 31, Sept. 5, Jan. 16 and Feb. 20.

The trustees also approved the 2023-24 calendar, which has the first day of school set for Aug. 16, and the last day of school on May 24, according to the calendar.

Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 20-24, the winter holiday break will be Dec. 22-Jan. 5, and March 11-15 will be spring break. Additional student and staff holidays will be on Sept. 4, Jan. 15 and Feb. 19.
