Upcoming projects
1. Cheek-Sparger Road reconstruction
Project: Crews will reconstruct Cheek-Sparger Road into a two-lane undivided road and add turn lanes, sidewalks and shared-use paths from Bedford Road to Heritage Avenue. Additionally, a traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Martin Parkway and Cheek-Sparger Road.
Update: The cost for designing the Bedford and Cheek-Sparger Road roundabout has increased by $47,000 after the Colleyville City Council approved work to be added to the project at the April 7 meeting, according to previous reporting. The new design cost is now $199,000 and includes 500 feet of water line within a proposed roundabout. City staff anticipates starting the search for a company to construct the project later this year, Assistant City Manager Mark Wood said.
2. SH 26 green ribbon improvements
Project: The Green Ribbon Project work includes installing irrigation systems and planting ornamental trees, shrubs and ground cover, according to city documents. The scope includes SH 26 from north of John McCain Road to south of Longwood Drive, SH 121 from Gateway Drive to north of Glade Road and FM 3029 from north of Lavaca Trail to south of West McDonwell School Road.
Update: Colleyville City Council approved a contract with C. Green Scaping at the April 7 meeting, according to previous reporting. The contract will not exceed $895,887 and will have a contingency amount not to exceed $90,000, according to city documents.
3. Euless Grapevine Road expansion
Project: Bedford-based CT4 Construction was awarded a $2.1 million contract in August. The scope included the construction of two travel lanes, sidewalks and traffic signal improvements at the intersection of the frontage road and SH 360. Federal funding was approved Dec. 13, 2018, with a 20% local match, according to city documents.
Update: The work was slated to start by the end of 2025. A city spokesperson said the project will be rebid and the work is on hold until then.
Ongoing projects
4. Lipscomb Street and Forest Street
Project: Part of the 49th annual Community Development Block Grant, this project is an interlocal agreement between the city of Grapevine and Tarrant County. The outline for the work is replacing the waterline, sanitary sewer lines, storm drainage and adding sidewalks, according to city documents.
Update: The project has a contract completion date by the end of May.
5. North Carroll Avenue improvements
Project: Phase 4 work will focus on the Lake Wood Drive and SH 114 intersections, including hardscape improvements and traffic signal upgrades, as part of the North Carroll Avenue mobility plan. Work closed the driveway into the Carroll Pointe Shopping Center from Carroll Avenue.
Update: The post on the city’s Facebook page states that Phase 4, which started Jan. 5, is almost finished. Two more phases remain. Phase 5 was adding a left-turn lane at North Carroll Avenue to the eastbound SH 114 frontage road. The final phase is the addition of a dual left-turn lane from North Carroll Avenue to the westbound SH 114 frontage road.
6. SH 114 and West Dove Road Green Ribbon Project improvements
Project: Phase 2 of intersection improvements with the Green Ribbon Project started along the north side of Dove Road. This phase includes approximately 400 linear feet of hardscape, landscaping and irrigation improvements within the existing right of way. Central North Construction LLC was awarded the contract in December. Funding was approved at the Jan. 20 meeting.
Update: The project is expected to take 42 working days to complete with brief lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., as needed.
