Construction on a green ribbon project to beautify street medians will begin in Colleyville following council's approval of a contract with C. Green Scaping at the April 7 meeting.
The contract will not exceed $895,887 and will have a contingency amount not to exceed $90,000, according to city documents.
The overview
The green ribbon project work includes installing irrigation systems and planting ornamental trees, shrubs and ground cover, according to city documents.
The scope includes SH 26 from north of John McCain Road to south of Longwood Drive, SH 121 from Gateway Drive to north of Glade Road and FM 3029 from north of Lavaca Trail to south of West McDonwell School Road.
The federal government and the Texas Department of Transportation will contribute $1.78 million to the project, per city documents.
Public Works Director Lisa Escobedo said she would talk to TxDOT to see if the city of Colleyville could use the excess funding to expand the scope of the project and add more landscaping to other areas.
Looking ahead
Work will start as soon as city staff issues a written notice to proceed and will take up to 64 days to complete, per city documents.
