A social media post from the restaurant indicated it was permanently shuttered.
“It has been an honor to be part of your lives and this wonderful community,” the post said. “We are incredibly proud of what we built and the memories we created together.”
The backstory
The restaurant would have been celebrating its second anniversary in January. Joe Murphy and his wife, Carmen Vega, poured their savings into opening Zafiros Mexican Grill y Cantina in Colleyville, according to previous reporting.
Zafiros offered Mexican entrees, appetizers and sides featuring fresh, scratch-kitchen ingredients, such as locally sourced vegetables, in-house butchered meats and fish hand-selected by chefs, according to its website. The restaurant also served a variety of dishes, including tostadas, fajitas, nachos, steak, handmade corn tortillas and more, according to its menu.
