Growing up with his nine siblings in San Angelo, Texas, Meat U Anywhere owner Andy Sedino said barbecue was a staple in his house.

“It’s been in our chemical makeup since childhood,” Sedino said. “Every time someone came to our home in West Texas, they always came through the kitchen.”

With more than 35 years of experience in the restaurant business, Sedino worked in the corporate barbecue business for 11 years until 2012.

With the help of his friends and family, Sedino started a catering business in 2013. It is because of the catering business that the restaurant got its name, as a client was wondering if she would need to pick up the food or if Sedino would bring it to her.

“I said, ‘Tell me what you’d like, and we’ll meet you anywhere,’” he said. “I was like, ‘Wow, that’s our name.’”

From there, he founded and developed the Grapevine location and opened it in October 2014.

Since opening, the restaurant has experienced steady and robust growth, Sedino said.

“We had projections for the year that we blew out of the water in less than 68 days,” Sedino said.

A second Meat U Anywhere opened in June 2016 in Trophy Club, with the letter of intent for that eatery having been filed before the end of 2014.

The restaurant offers eight smoked meats, six sides and six sandwiches daily. On Fridays and Saturdays, there are four other meat options on the menu: famous peppered tenderloin ($25), smoked choice prime rib ($25), choice beef chuck rib ($20) and bone-in pork loin chop ($17).

Smoked using hickory and oak and priced by the pound, Sedino said Meat U Anywhere’s meat is tender and retains its juiciness, yet it is infused with the smoky flavor of the wood. Sedino said the brisket ($19) is fork-tender, and both the German and jalapeno cheddar sausage ($15) have an edge of pepper and spice without being overpowering.

The sides come in three sizes: small ($2), pint ($6) and quart ($12). The jalapeno bacon mac ‘n’ cheese is creamy with hints of spice from the peppers and saltiness from the bacon.

The business also offers breakfast tacos ($3), including carne guisada y papas and pork guiso y papas.

“Last year alone, [the restaurant had] well over a half a million dollars just in breakfast taco sales,” Sedino said.

Sedino expressed his gratitude on being able to create a business that allows him to give back to his community.

“We’re blessed because the community supports us, and that’s why we support the communities that we’re in,” Sedino said.
