The overview
Council members authorized up to $17,917 for the purchase and installation of new canopy shades at Oak Grove Soccer and the outdoor workout station at The REC. The canopy shades are being purchased from Playground Solutions of Texas, an equipment distributor based in Southlake.
Funds for the project are available in the city’s capital maintenance fund for parks, according to a staff memo.
Also on the agenda
Grapevine City Council’s Dec. 3 meeting included 13 items on the consent agenda which was unanimously approved by council members. Several items authorized renewal of contracts and agreements with businesses and other cities for services. The full agenda can be accessed online.
- Renewal of an annual contract with AT&T for cellular voice and data services used by Grapevine’s Police Department and Fire Department
- The services enable patrol and fire vehicles to remain connected with the city’s dispatch system.
- Cost: $80,000 (funded from the city’s general fund, crime control and prevention fund and utility enterprise fund)
- Purchase of a Kubota tractor from Zimmerer Kubota for the Grapevine Golf Course
- The new tractor will replace a tractor that is 22 years old.
- Cost: $33,245 (funded from the city’s lake enterprise fund)
- Renewal of services provided by Flock Safety
- The purchase renews Flock Safety’s license plate reader service which aims to help locate stolen vehicles, identify missing or wanted people, and aid in law enforcement investigations. Currently, the Grapevine Police Department has 11 Flock camera license plate readers.
- Cost: $30,000 (funded from the city’s crime control and prevention fund)
Council members also approved a construction contract of up to $860,622 with Fransen Pitman Construction for renovating Grapevine City Hall.
Work will primarily occur around City Hall’s downstairs lobby in the utility billing, planning services, building services and engineering areas, according to a staff memo. The project scope includes:
- Installation of new counters
- Installation of new doors
- Installation of new receiving counters with glass partitions
- Installation of an entry vestibule along the Barton Street entrance
